The change is scheduled to take effect on September 14. Until then, a temporary 50% increase in weekly limits for Claude Code will remain active. Following this date, the new permanent limits will be implemented for Pro, Max, Team, and seat-based Enterprise plans.
To illustrate the impact, if the original standard weekly allowance for Claude Code was 100 units, the temporary promotion currently provides 150 units. As of September 14, this will decrease to 125 units. This represents a 25% increase over the original standard allowance but a 17% reduction from the temporary 150-unit limit.
Anthropic initially posted about the change on X (formerly Twitter), describing it as a permanent 25% increase to standard weekly limits. However, the company later deleted the original thread and issued a clarification, explicitly acknowledging the reduction.
In its revised statement, Anthropic confirmed, "Compared to today, this works out to a 17% reduction in weekly limits on Claude Code." The company also indicated that further changes are in development, stating, "We're working on exciting changes that will make it feel like you're getting more from Claude, while having more visibility and control of your usage.
