Details of "Claude Money" surfaced through observations of the Claude iOS app, where a new "Money" section was noted alongside existing features like Chats, Code, Artifacts, Dispatch, and Cowork. A page within this section reportedly states, "Understand your money with Claude. Link your bank accounts and ask Claude about spending, plans, and more," accompanied by a "Get started" button for account connection.
The functionality is not yet widely available to users, and specific details regarding supported financial institutions, the method of account linking, or geographical availability (e.g., whether it will be limited to the United States) remain unconfirmed by Anthropic.
This development follows a similar offering from OpenAI, which provides a "Finances" feature within ChatGPT. OpenAI's service allows users to connect various financial accounts, including bank accounts, credit cards, and brokerage accounts, through the Plaid platform. ChatGPT's financial analysis capabilities include answering questions about spending habits, bills, subscriptions, savings, net worth, and investments, supporting over 12,000 U.S. financial institutions. OpenAI has stated that it does not use personal financial data to train its AI models.
